Publication Ethics
Legal Civility is committed to maintaining the integrity and quality of all published publications. To achieve this, we establish the following publication ethics guidelines that must be followed by all parties involved in the publishing process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers.
Author Responsibilities
- Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that the work they submit is original and has not been published elsewhere. Plagiarism in any form is not acceptable.
- Presentation of Data: Authors must present their research data honestly and accurately. Manipulation or falsification of data is unethical.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: Authors must acknowledge all sources of data and relevant literature they used in their research.
- Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could affect the interpretation or conclusions of their manuscript.
- Significant Errors in Published Work: If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they must immediately notify the journal editor and work together to publish a correction or retract the article.
Editor's Responsibility
- Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for deciding which articles to publish based on the validity and contribution of the work to science.
- Fairness and Objectivity: Editors should evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political views.
- Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff should not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than authors, reviewers, prospective reviewers, other editorial advisors, and publishers, as appropriate.
- Conflicts of Interest: Editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may affect their judgment or decision regarding a submitted manuscript.
Reviewer Responsibilities
- Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and may assist authors in improving their manuscripts through editorial communication.
- Fairness and Objectivity: Reviewers should evaluate the manuscript objectively, providing comments that are clear and supported by logical arguments.
- Confidentiality: Any manuscript received for review should be treated as a confidential document. Reviewers should not discuss the manuscript with others except as authorized by the editor.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant works that have not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation.
- Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest arising from a competitive, collaborative, or other relationship with the authors, the company, or the institution.
Publisher Responsibilities
- Integrity and Accuracy: Publishers work with editors to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the scientific record through transparent publication policies and fair procedures.
- Publication Ethics: The publisher is committed to ensuring that publication ethics guidelines are adhered to by all parties involved in the publishing process.
- Corrections and Withdrawals: The publisher works with editors to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary.
By adhering to these guidelines, we strive to maintain the highest ethical standards in scientific publishing and support trust and credibility between authors, reviewers, editors, and readers.
